Pitch Wars

July is coming to a close. Baseball is in its second half of the season, football is almost here, and pre-published writers are putting their final touches on the their manuscripts and query letters in preparation for Pitch Wars.

For those who are not familiar with the writing contest, we will give you a quick rundown of what you need to know. The contest has writers submit their first chapter and a query letter to published/agented authors, editors and interns who will choose one writer to mentor. They will work with that writer to make their manuscript shine. From there, that manuscript will presented to the panel of agents to review. For a more detailed description, visit the Pitch Wars site.

Everything kicks off on August 3rd with a blog hop where you can read about the mentors and what type of manuscript they would like to see. Each writer is limited to four mentors to submit to, so choose ones who are looking for the genre that matches your manuscript. The submission form for the contest will be posted at midnight (EST) on August 17.

The organizer of the event, Brenda Drake, will also be chatting live with mentors throughout August. This is a great opportunity to get to know the mentors in your category. So, polish your manuscript and get ready to go to war.
