About the Book

Cilla Lee-Jenkins, Future Author Extraordinaire (Roaring Brook Press, March 2017) is told through the “memoirs” of a surely-soon-to-be renowned eight-and-a-half-year-old girl, exploring her mixed Chinese and American heritage, school, birthdays, time-traveling theories, and the impending birth of a new sibling.

About the Author

Susan Tan

Susan Tan has lived many places in her life, but calls Concord, Massachusetts home. She grew up in a mixed-race family, and like her character, Cilla, was bald until the age of five. She earned a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where she studied children’s literature. She was the 2015 Gish Jen Emerging Writers Fellow at the Writers’ Room of Boston, and currently lives in Somerville where she enjoys frequent trips to Chinatown and teaches at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
